Vigdis Unsgård is a lyric soprano from Skatval, Norway. She received her bachelor and masters degrees in Opera from the Norwegian Opera Academy of the Arts. During her studies she also worked professionally, performing roles such as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, First Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and Adina in L’elisir d’amore. In 2013, she made her debut at the Norwegian National Opera as Op. S in the world premiere of Ad Undas.
Ms. Unsgård has been hailed for her warm and inviting timbre along with her powerful stage presence. From 2015 to 2017, she worked as a soloist at the Norwegian National Opera, singing roles such as Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice, Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frasquita in Carmen, and Melanto in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria.
Having performed in many prestigious concerts and received numerous awards, Ms. Unsgård is most recently the winner of the Opera Friends Oslo Talent Award, an honor granted only sporadically to a singer deemed as having highly promising talent. She is currently a soloist at Theater Kiel, where she has sung roles including Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Nedda in I Pagliacci, and Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims.
