So Young Park recently made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, a debut as Setsuko in An American Dream at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and her first appearance with the New York Philharmonic for their Lunar New Year concert. In the coming season, Ms. Park will perform the Queen with Komische Oper (Asia tour), LA Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and Houston Grand Opera, and appear as Clorinda in the Met’s production of Cenerentola.
Opera News describes her signature role of Queen of the Night as „darker and more colorful than that of the leggieros who usually take on the role” and “dazzling in runs and arpeggio.“ Her unique and flexible voice allows her to tackle many of opera’s most challenging soprano roles, including Zerbinetta, Blondchen, Gilda, Doll and others.
In concert, Ms. Park has been invited to perform alongside Placido Domingo in Seoul, South Korea, as well as with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the batons of Gustavo Dudamel and Esa-Pekka Salonen. She had her first solo recital tour in multiple cities in Korea, and was featured on the Korean TV show “I Can See Your Voice” to perform Queen’s second aria.
