This season the german Soprano Joo-Anne Bitter is going to perform the role of Anna Chamberlain in Avner Dorman’s new opera „Wahnfried“ and the role of Kriemhild in Oscar Straus’ Operetta „Die lustigen Nibelungen“ at the Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe. In spring 2017 she already gave her guest debut in the world premiere of Avner Dorman’s opera „Wahnfried“ with the role of Eva Chamberlain. That followed she was invited to represent Germany to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Union at the Novaya Opera Moscow with Beethovens Symphonies No. 9 (C: Arthur Arnold). In summer 2017 she successfully made her role debut of Elsa in Wagner’s „Lohengrin“ at the Tyrolean Festival Erl under the baton of Gustav Kuhn.
Joo-Anne Bitter began her singing studies after making her Master of Arts degree at the LMU Munich. She made her debut in 2008 at the Hamburg Chamber Opera with the part of Donna Anna in Mozart’s „Don Giovanni“, followed by the performance of Leïla (Les pêcheurs de perles/Bizet) at the Mauritius Opera Festival. In 2014 she sang for the first time at the Tyrolean Festival Erl the parts of Freia (Das Rheingold/Wagner) and 3. Norn (Die Götterdämmerung/Wagner) and in 2015 she succeeded with her role debut of Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg/Wagner).
In 2016 she sang Pamina (Die Zauberflöte/Mozart) and again Freia (Das Rheingold/Wagner) and also Waldvogel (Siegfried/Wagner) in Erl. At the Staatsoperette Dresden she made her role debut with the role of Marenka in Smetana’s „The Bartered Bride“.
Other engagements during the last years were leading here to China, the Czech Republic and in Germany to the South Thuringen State Opera Meiningen and the Staatsoperette Dresden. At the Poly Theatre Beijing she performed Eva in Wagner’s Meistersinger and at the Prague National Theatre Strauss’ Four last Songs (C: Sir Libor Pešek) as well as with the Northbohemian Philharmonic Orchestra (C: Martin Lebel). In Meiningen she made her guest debut with the part of Laura in Millöcker’s famous Operetta „Der Bettelstudent“.
On stage she performed roles including Agathe (Der Freischütz/Weber), Micaëla (Carmen/Bizet), Malwina and Janthe (Der Vampyr/Marschner), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus/Strauss) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte/Mozart).
She has appeared in many concerts on international stages like Russia, Mexico, Norway, Austria, Italy and Czech Republic.
